Assessment Pattern and Grading Criteria
IBDP has a unique grading system to grade students on a scale of 45. The minimum requirement for the program is; a student needs to obtain at least 24 points to pass the diploma. Generally, students are offered 6 subjects in IB with a grade point of 6 each — giving a total of 42 points from the subjects, plus 3 core points from the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge (TOK).
The remaining core element, CAS, does not contribute to the points total but authenticated participation is mandatory. The IBDP uses a combination of internal and external assessments such as IA (research work) and written examinations, with variations between HL and SL subjects.
